Zapatista film plus Social with live music

1) Film and Social on Wednesday the 16th of February, Nicol Edwards pub, 8pm onwards

The Edinburgh Chiapas Solidarity Group calls for a night of solidarity, education and celebration in support of the Zapatista resistance and rebellion. Find out more about our twinned community in CHiapas and the work we do to support the autonomous municipality of '16 de Febrero'. All proceeds will be used to fund the construction of a health clinic in the municipality.

8PM - FILM - STORM IN THE MOUNTAIN - FREE

Doors will open at 8pm, and and there will be a film screened - 'Storm in the Mountain', which documents how 24 ski-masked Zapatista leaders were joined by thousands of indigenous Mexicans on a march to Mexico City to address the Mexican congress on the indigenous people's need for democracy, liberty and justice. Afterwards, two members of the Edinburgh-Chiapas solidarity group will talk about their experiences in Chiapas.

10PM - DJ AND LIVE MUSIC -£2

As well as this, there will be a DJ and live music, a bar, merchandise, coffee, books and information. Entry after 10pm will cost you £2.
