Islamophobia, "The War on Terror," and the Supression of Critical Thought

A panel discussion with professors, students and community-members on issues of Islamophobia, racism, the so-called "War on Terror" and academic freedom. This is event is a response - not a reaction - to the impending visit of Daniel Pipes to SUNY-Binghamton, an archetect of the Iraq War and proponent of racist crackdowns on Muslim communities. While Pipes' visit serves as the backdrop to this event, the issues are far larger, as Pipes embodies the racism of U.S. foreign policy. The Panel discussion will be followed by a question and answer session.

Os enviamos el tercer boletín Okupazio eta Erresistentzia. El tema central de este boletín es "Las mujeres palestinas frente a la ocupación". GITE-IPES lleva varios años profundizando y especialmente sensibilizando en el tema del Oriente Medio. En esta ocasión queremos reflexionar y estudiar sobre cómo sufren las mujeres palestinas el conflicto.



La situación del pueblo palestino es una herida abierta de la que no para de sangrar sufrimiento, injusticia, xenofobia, crueldad… Este conflicto, lejos de tratarse de un fenómeno aislado en el convulso Oriente Medio, responde a una estrategia bien diseñada de control y dominación sobre la zona para eliminar cualquier reducto de resistencia al proyecto imperialista estadounidense e israelí. Frente a los intereses económicos y estratégicos que desean imponer, sin embargo, se alza la lucha y resistencia de pueblos como el palestino.



Desde una perspectiva feminista, a través de estas jornadas de las que os enviamos información, analizaremos de qué manera afecta el conflicto a las mujeres palestinas y qué estrategias desarrollan éstas para enfrentarlos: el papel preponderante que en la sociedad desempeñan, cómo sufren la violencia, cómo viven y sobreviven, y cómo afrontan la lucha por la soberanía de su pueblo.

国際障害者デー（12月3日）

　1992年、「国連障害者の10年」（1983〜1992年）の終結にあたり、国連総会は12月3日を「国際障害者デー」と宣言しました（決議47/3）。国際障害者の10年は、障害者の現状改善と平等な機会の提供を行うよう、一般の意識を高めつつ立法措置を制定する10年となりました。総会ではさらに加盟国に対し、障害を持つ人々の社会参加をいっそう促進させるため、この国際デーに重点を置くよう呼びかけました。

The second in a monthly series of study sessions on what a single payer health insurance system could look like in the United States, convened by local activist and author Bill Harvey, and sponsored by Red Emma's. You might wonder what, exactly, single-payer insurance means: "Single payer" is a technical sounding term that simply means that only one agency will pay for medical services- this in contrast to the roughly 1500 insurance companies now operating in the US. Private insurance companies would be effectively eliminated from the medical market. The rough model for most single payer advocates in the US is the Canadian system.
