This is the monthly meeting of the board of your local Peace Action Chapter.

These meetings are open to the public.

Most meetings are followed by an engaging speaker who touches on a variety of peace and social justice issues.

ביום רביעי שעבר, נהרס ביתם של זינה ועומר אל-עדאסי שליד הנמל בשכונת עג'מי.
בשעה 6 בבוקר הגיעו הבולדוזרים מלוום בעשרות שוטרים אל הבית והרסו אותו, על
תכולתו. למשפחת אל-עדאסי 4 ילדים, והם גרו בבית זה במשך 26 שנים. לפרטים נוספים

הריסת בית משפחת עדאסי הגיעה בהפתעה. המשפחה אמנם פנתה לוועדה העממית לגבי
הריסה עתידית, אך כנראה שגם הם עצמם לא ידעו על התאריך, ועל כן לא נערכנו
בהתאם.

זהו מקרה קשה ועצוב מאין כמוהו. משפחה בת 6 נפשות נזרקה לרחוב, רכושה האישי
עוקל, ואין בפניהם אלטרנטיבה לדיור בכבוד. מקרה זה הוא קשה גם מבחינת השלכותיו
ומשמעותו למאבק בכלל. יש חשיבות לחזק את המשפחה ולנסות לעזור לה במצוקה שלה,
ובמקביל לחבר את המקרה לתופעה הכוללת ולמאבק בה.

לאחר שהצלחנו למנוע שתי הריסות (משפחת סאבא ומשפחת ד'קה), הצליחו להפתיע אותנו
ולהרוס את הבית ללא התנגדות. יש לכך משמעות מעבר להריסה עצמה. אסור שתיווצר
ברחוב תחושה שאין מה לעשות, וצריך להמשיך ולהראות שזה לא יעבור. המקרים
הראשונים מבין מאות הצווים הקיימים, די קריטיים, ובעלי חשיבות גדולה להצלחת
המאבק.

היום, יום ראשון, תגיע נציגות של הועדה למפגש עם משפחת עדאסי כדי לדון עמם
לגבי תוכניות עתידיות. יש לנו מחשבות על הקמת אוהל מחאה במקום שבו היה קיים
הבית, ועל לבנות את הבית מחדש.

ביום שלישי הקרוב תתקיים פגישה דחופה של הועדה והפעילים התומכים כדי לתכנן את
צעדינו. המאבק עומד בפני שלב קריטי. אנא הגיעו. הפגישה תתקיים בראביטה, בשעה

Radical History Reading Circle - Summer FreeSkool!

Hi!

Interested in reading some good books and discussing them? You may have heard about the Ithaca Freeskool by now - it is a non-heierarchial, peer-to-peer (mostly adult oriented) learning environment for skill shares, projects, classes and discussion groups. This summer is our second term, and we have a great set of free classes for the community.

As part of the freeskool, we are beginning a Tuesday evening reading/discussion circle looking mostly at radical

history…the plan is to start with readings from Emma Goldman's

Anarchism and Other Essays, followed by parts of Howard Zinn's

(howardzinn.org) Peoples History of the United States.

With the nature and scope of the readings, we

feel it is especially important to try and make this group as open and

non-heierarchial as possible, but at the same time show that this will

not devolve into a flaky non-productive setting. So the class will be

open to moving in directions that participants consense on taking it.

Tuesday FreeSkool Radical Reading Circle

we'll meet next Tuesday at 7:30pm either in DeWitt Park or (if the

will facilitate. Our topics for discussion will be the lasts specifics
from Emma's book (which, by the way, for those that haven't seen yet,

talk of reading an essay from the end of Emma's life about free love.
