Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore Meeting

7:30 PM - 12:00 AM

Join the Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore as it meets on Monday nights at the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) building on York Road. The Pledge, formerly the Iraq Pledge of Resistance, regularly engages in civil disobedience on behalf of our collective civil liberties. Every action is non-violent and is conducted peacefully.

The Pledge has a series of actions planned in the upcoming months that are designed to visibly oppose the Bush administration's "preemptive" warmongering and attacks on the Bill of Rights. If you're concerned about the direction the US is heading to please consider coming out and joining us. (Note: it is always advisable to call in advance to confirm the meeting is being held as scheduled.)

Location:
806 York Road, Baltimore, MD

'Painful Deceptions' screening @ Red Emma's

7:30 PM - 10:30 PM

On December 27th at 7:30 p.m. Red Emma's will screen Eric Hufschmid's groundbreaking analysis of 911 called "Painful Deceptions" (2003). Painful Deceptions is the video version of Hufschmid's extraordinary book "Painful Questions" (2002). Hufschmid has inspired many to join the 911 Truth Movement. This is particularly true of Jimmy Walter, the millionaire who has been taking out ads in New York newspapers in recent months that encourages people to review Hufschmid's work.

'Painful Deceptions' is eccentric, minimalist and an intellectual de force. Armed with just a computer, a candle and a kitchen stove, Hufschmid raises questions about the official story of 9/11 that demand to be heard.

A discussion about Painful Deceptions will follow the screening.

The suggested donation for the event is $5. Alternatively, interested parties are encouraged to pick up a copy of 'Painful Deceptions' (or another excellent video, "911: In Plane Site") at Red Emma's for only $12.

Red Emma's is a collective-run, bookstore/coffeehouse that is located at 800 St. Paul Street (at the corner of St. Paul and Madison Streets).

Wet Seal Protest

12:00 AM - 1:00 AM

An estimated 350 million rabbits annually have their skulls brutally bashed in or their necks broken or slit before being slung up by their legs and having their heads cut off. This is the process it takes to prepare their carcasses to be made into luxury items like meat and fur trim.
We have a tremendous opportunity to convince Wet Seal to make a compassionate choice and replace rabbit fur items with faux fur styles.
With the monumental victory with Forever 21 behind us, we need to keep the pressure on Wet Seal as we demand that they too, like leading retailers Abercrombie & Fitch, The Gap and most recently, Forever 21, take a stand against cruelty and remove fur from their shelves. For more information on the campaign and our recent victory against Forever 21, please go to www.peta2.com/tc/t-wetseal.html
for more information on the skins/meat trade and rabbits, please visit
www.all-creatures.org/ anex/rabbit.html

Just bring yourself- I'll have all the signs that you'll need.
If you cannot attend, please give the store a call sometime around the protest time or that day. Let them know that you will no longer shop there. It will make the protest a million times more effective even if you couldn't be there in person.
The number is: 585-720-1770
________________ If You Cannot Attend Any Demonstrations___________________________

Please contact the Wet Seal corporate office- the number is 1-800-735-7325
Leave them a message and let them know you will not support them as long as the sell real fur.
Keep in mind that the call is free to you, and, coming from a pay phone costs them 50 cents each time. For a company with such financial troubles at the moment, they will not be able to get through both a boycott and rising phone bills due to ex-customers.

Location:
The greece Ridge Mall, the entrance across from the Firestone on Westridge Rd.
