Hotel Workers Demonstration
Hotel Workers Struggle Hits Home in Boston
Hotel corporations in San Francisco thought they could just lock out some of the lowest paid workers in our country and eventually they would have to go back to work with out a contract. That theory back fired, and it back fired because of the support that workers have gotten all over the country from people like us. The Solidarity Committee is working to continue support for hotel workers and shine a spotlight on corporate greed! There will be a series of three leaflets at the Hyatt in Cambridge.
Please consider coming out!!

Shadow of a Doubt: Women Behind the Camera
One of Alfred Hitchcock’s closest lifelong collaborators was his wife, Alma Reville. Before he even started in the film industry, she had worked on numerous movies as an editor. She was a co-writer of many of his pictures from the late 1920s through the early 1950s, including The Thirty-Nine Steps, The Lady Vanishes and Suspicion. Her ambitions to direct were altered by family obligations and redirected to assisting Hitchcock as his career skyrocketed when they moved to the U.S. and to writing screenplays for other directors. We celebrate the wonderful work of women behind the camera with Shadow of a Doubt, which Hitchcock called his favorite film.
"Shadow of a Doubt" [Universal, 1943, 108 minutes, black and white]
Cast: Teresa Wright, Joseph Cotten, MacDonald Carey, Henry Travers Director, Alfred Hitchcock Screenplay, Thornton Wilder, Sally Benson, Alma Reville
When young Charlie (Teresa Wright) wishes to see her beloved Uncle Charlie (Joseph Cotton), after whom she is named, he suddenly arrives in her quiet, small hometown. He is his usual charming self, except he seems secretive and speaks disturbingly of rich widows, whom he calls "swine." When a police detective posing as a magazine writer (MacDonald Carey), questions her about Uncle Charlie, she becomes suspicious. Why has he torn an article out of the newspaper? At the library, she matches the article to the headline “Who is the Merry Widow Murderer?” Charlie must find out what this means about her namesake.
