Stand with Students at School Board Demonstrat

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

TAKE A STAND with students of Baltimore in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education. Public officials who have failed to protect the children of Baltimore must be held to account.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO PRAISE Brown v. Board while allowing Baltimore’s predominantly African-American schools to remain underfunded!
FUND Brown AND Bradford NOW!!!
MAY 17TH, 2004 at 4:00 p.m., STUDENTS WILL DEMONSTRATE at School Board headquarters on North Avenue to demand that the city School Board, the Mayor, and other elected officials:
1. Acknowledge publicly and formally to Judge Kaplan that BCPSS cannot adequately educate Baltimore’s children in 2004-05 with the funding available.
2. Join students in urging Judge Kaplan to find the State in contempt because of its failure to obey his June 2000 order in Bradford v. Maryland State Board of Education.
3. Join students in demanding a $110 million deficiency appropriation from the State to prevent the obvious harm to Baltimore’s children that will otherwise occur. Refusal by public officials to meet our demands will indicate their tolerance of the inadequate education currently available to Baltimore’s children.
BUT WE WON’T TOLERATE INJUSTICE ANY MORE!!
Bring adults and students to the demonstration. Official endorsements of this action by your organizations are welcome. Notify Jay Gillen at The Baltimore Algebra Project as soon as possible with endorsements (410-243-8739 or jgillen-AT-stadiumschool.com

Location:
