Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore Meeting

Join the Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore as it meets on Monday nights at the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) building on York Road. The Pledge, formerly the Iraq Pledge of Resistance, regularly engages in civil disobedience on behalf of our collective civil liberties. Every action is non-violent and is conducted peacefully.

The Pledge has a series of actions planned in the upcoming months that are designed to visibly oppose the Bush administration's "preemptive" warmongering and attacks on the Bill of Rights. If you're concerned about the direction the US is heading to please consider coming out and joining us. (Note: it is always advisable to call in advance to confirm the meeting is being held as scheduled.)

-El transporte corre a cuenta de los asistentes. Una idea que puede funcionar: la creación entre vosotros de Cajas Comunes de Solidaridad.
-Contamos con ayuda jurídica y guía práctica de 4 abogados (venid con papeles en regla, evitad las agendas y papeles donde figuren direcciones).
-Presencia de Médicos -Médicos sin Fronteras + Enfermeras en Lucha
-Se establecerá un lugar de acogida permanente y una Asamblea General habrá lugar cada día a las 11 de la mañana.

In conjunction with RICHAIR2030's performance at MACHINISTA in Glasgow, TAKE2030 will hold a freenetwork-DIY antenna workshop at Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA) on Monday, May 10, 2pm-5pm.

RICHAIR2030 calls for public participation in freenetwork movement - its ideas of open distributed wireless network and its DIY and open source application in hardware and software construct. Recalling early days of freenetworkers' handmade antenna building session, we will take the opportunity of the workshop get together to review the current state of freenetwork movement. In this time of Telecom's expansion of city hotspots and the accessibility of inexpensive consumer wifi products, RICHAIR2030 calls for sustainable local and self-organized network building - share and consume, be engaged, be involved.

立川・反戦ビラ弾圧【緊急行動】高等裁判所へ検察の抗告却下を求める情宣・申入れ

【緊急＆重要！】３名は保釈されるか

（１）保釈要求署名４４７５筆集まる！

　みなさんのご協力で、4000筆を越える保釈要求署名が集まり
ました。ありがとうございました。署名は既に裁判所に提出済
みです。署名の力で、何としても仲間たちの早期の保釈を勝ち
取っていきたいと思います。
　保釈が実現するまでは、署名を引き続き集めていきたいと思
っていますので、ぜひ今後もご協力お願いいたします。

（２）東京地方裁判所八王子支部は保釈を許可

　5月7日、第1回公判の終了を経て東京地方裁判所八王子
支部は獄中の3名の保釈を許可しました。4500筆の保釈要求署
名を始めとした保釈を求める様々な動きの結果か。

（３）ところが検察側がこの保釈許可に対して抗告！
　　～３名を精神的に追い詰めようとする検察の意図～

　しかし、東京地検の山口久枝・江藤純子・中畑真美はこの
保釈許可に対して高等裁判所に抗告を行いました。
　抗告状は10日月曜日に高裁に届き、審理される見通しです。
　高裁が検察側の主張を受け入れれば、3名の監禁状態が
継続されてしまいます。
　しかも検察側は再度接見禁止を求める抗告をも行っています。
検察の意図は、保釈を伸ばして外部の人間とも会わせず、
３名を更に精神的に追い詰めるというもはやただの嫌がらせに
堕しているのではないか、と関係者は口々に語っています。

William Waterway Marks and Marcela Olivieira

Bolivian activist Marcela Olivera helped lead a popular movement in her hometown of Cochabamba against the privatization of their water system by Bechtel and the World Bank in what has been called the first successful struggle against water privatization in the world. William E. (Marks) Waterway has worked as an environmental water analyst and for 15 years he operated a water-testing and research laboratory and an environmental consulting firm on Martha's Vineyard. He has also written a critically acclaimed book entitled The Holy Order of Water.

Wheels of Justice at UMASS

The Wheels of Justice is a cross-country trek bringing eyewitness to war and occupation from Iraq and Palestine to communities all over the United States. They have traveled more than 18,000 miles and visited more than 19 states since July 2004.

The current speakers on tour, Mazin Qumsiyeh and Mike Miles, have both recently returned from the occupied lands of Iraq and Palestine. Mazin is a Palestinian American and an Associate Professor of Genetics at Yale University. He is a cofounder and currently national treasurer of Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition. He last visited with his family in the occupied West Bank in October 2003. Mike Miles, a Catholic Worker, has been to Iraq three times since 1997 and recently returned from Palestine.

America’s foremost non-corporate comedian, Dave Lippman (AKA George Shrub, the Singing CIA Agent), has also joined the tour. He employs anti-folk songs and interventionary anthems in his role as Cultural Director of the Department of Homeland Security.
