May Day Picnic and Acoustic Hoedown

2:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Well, it's that time of year again, time for the May Day picnic in Wyman Park! A day late, but hey.
This is the 3rd (or is it the 4th....) year, and every one previous has been a grand ol' time.

As always, please bring some food (preferably vegan so everyone can share, but do what you will); soccer balls, your friends, your canine friends, beverages, picnicware, and whatever else you would like. You know, the standard stuff.
If you are really confused, start playing that game "I'm going to a picnic and I'm going to bring..."

New to the picnic this year, we will have performers! It just makes sense to have something else besides a soccer game, and this year we have:

Erik Petersen (protest folk- outside Philly, PA www.fistolo.com/brew.html)

Darren "Deicide" Kramer (blues/roots rock- Newark, NJ www.everreviledrecords.com/)

Mikey Stilts (metalcoustica. just like it sounds. Also a member of DC's United 121)

As well, if anyone else would like to jump on, bring along your instrument to the picnic. It's a big park, so there's always enough room.

There were supposed to be a whole weekend of shows and events, but due to venue problems and other unforeseen complications they can not happen. However, the picnic is still happening. I guess next year I have to get to work a bit sooner to make the whole weekend work out, but let's salvage this one.

Location:
Wyman Park, Baltimore
Below the BMA, at the intersection of 29th & Charles Sts.

Cost: pass-the-hat donations

Directions: I-83 exit 28th St. Go about 4 blocks to Howard and turn left.
I-95 exit 395, MLK St. Follow MLK to Howard, and follow Howard until it ends at the park.

MAY DAY WAKE UP THE EARTH AFTER PARTY !!

8:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Come Celebrate May Day with Lucy Parsons Center (LPC) and Spontaneous Celebrations!

The Wake Up the Earth Festival began in 1979 when a group of local neighbors and activist banded together to stop the I-95 expansion into Jamaica Plain. The festival began as, and still is, a celebration of what can be accomplished when people of all traditions, cultures, ages, and beliefs come together. A great many individuals, local artists, community groups, and schools join forces every year to make a unique community collaboration. Recent festivals have included an enchanted puppet forest, sideshows, live bands, dancers, acoustic performers and a giant pageant.

In addition to a great day of fun and activities, LPC has been asked to host the AFTER PARTY!

THE AFTER PARTY will be held at Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain and will be so FUN!!

With Special Guests the Foundation, DJ Nomadik, and more! There will be several DJs, live bands, food and dancing!!
All Ages -- Beer & Wine w/ID
