que(e)r beisl im ekh: Artikel 7 - Unser Recht / Člen 7 - NaŠa Pravica

8:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Kinoki laedt zum Filmabend im Rahmen des Que(e)r Beisl im EKH (Wielandgasse 2-4, 1100 Wien):

ARTIKEL 7 - UNSER RECHT
ČLEN 7 - NAŠA PRAVICA
(A/Slo, 83 min., 2005)

Location:

Directions: Que(e)r Beisl im EKH, Wielandgasse 2-4, 1100 Wien (U1 Keplerplatz, 14a, 6, 67 Favoritenstrasse/Reumannplatz)

Massive Rally for Democracy Now!

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Amy Goodmanis doing a first rate job. - Diane Rehm

"Now there's an idea for you. You want public broadcasting to be balanced against all these establishment voices that get heard? Get Amy on public television!" Bill Moyers

Massive Rally for Democracy Now!
Wednesday
June 8
5:45pm
Strong Museum
1 Manhattan Square, downtown Rochester

For a map of parking garages go to www.midtownrochester.com/parkdt.htm

Pat Mitchell, the President of PBS is coming to the Strong Museum this Wednesday, 7pm to speak about Public Broadcasting and all eyes will be on WXXI.

This is it.

The Democracy Now! committee of Metro Justice has collected over 3,000 postcards urging WXXI to air Democracy Now! We will be stringing together the postcards forming a chain extending a quarter of a mile.

We need your help.

Please take the time to come to the rally Wednesday evening, 5:45pm. It will take several hundred people to hold the chain of postcards aloft along Chestnut Street, right in front of the Strong Museum. We are scheduling the rally so that you can also attend Pat Mitchell's speech if you like. In order to get a seat in the Strong Museum Auditorium call WXXI at 258-0200 for a reservation.

You should know that PBS President Pat Mitchell has stood up to the Bush White House's attempts to meddle with public broadcasting and that she seems genuinely committed to public broadcasting?s original mission to, as Bill Moyers put it, "provide an alternative to commercial television and to reflect the diversity of the American people"

Of course that's why so many people are excited about Democracy Now! Amy Goodman "goes to where the silence is," seeking out the missing voices from our public discourse.

For democracy to flourish Americans need easy access to independent, diverse sources of news and information. It's time to put the ?Public? back in Public Broadcasting!

To hear Bill Moyers? phenomenal speech to the Media Reform Conference go to www.democracynow.org/article.pl . Moyers takes aim at Ken Tomlinson, (Bush?s appointee to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting) and the conservative?s attempts to meddle in the political content of public broadcasting.

If you'd like to help us make signs and string together the postcards, come to the MJ office on Monday night, at 7pm.

See you there!

-Michael Connelly, Democracy Now! committee

Location:
Strong Museum
1 Manhattan Square, downtown Rochester

Performers Take Back the Streets!

6:00 PM - 12:00 AM

SAFE--Society for Artistic Freedom and Expression--is a open group of street performers encouraging the public and the performers to reclaim public spaces.

SAFE (also known as Streetperformers Against Foolish Enforcement) plays a weekly jam and speakout at

There is usually food and political tabling going on, as well as an ongoing "Vigil Against Two Wars"--the War on the Poor and the War/Occupation in Iraq.

As of Wednesday, March 23, 2005, SAFE will have played 60 consecutive weeks, braving police harassment, bad weather, and the City Council's Downtown Ordinances (which technically prohibit SAFE's performance area).

We formed in the wake of the "Only in Santa Cruz" concert in September 2003 to encourage solidarity among street performers particularly after City Council passed the Downtown Ordinances, expanding police repression and limiting performance space.

Come down and join us--in song and speech!

Location:
Soquel and Pacific in front of New Leaf Market and Alfresco's on Pacific Avenue in Downtown Santa Cruz

Those of you who receive this in time may wish to tune in to Radio Free
Nashville on Wednesdays from 3 to 4 pm. RFN is at 98.9 FM and
can probably be heard if you are within 10 or 15 miles (as the crow
flies) from the Bellevue area. (Topography affects reception, of
course.) If you cannot receive it on your radio, go to
www.RadioFreeNashville.org. You can hear the audio there.

We are also trying to stimulate people to phone in during our time on the
air. I can't locate the phone number now, but we will announce it
several times during our hour.

If youn might like to appear with one of us during a future program on a
Wednesday between 3 and 4 (possibly some other time would be a
possibility, too) and give your ideas about separation of church and
state, please respond.

RFN also needs your financial support (tax deductible), donations of
numerous items for the new facility, and people to volunteer their time.
