“Economic and Political Risk” Conference

7:00 PM - 10:30 PM

The Information Radio Network will host a one-day conference Thursday, March 24, 2005 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Larry Bates will conduct this special briefing intended to help individuals discover the truth about our government and survive our failing economy.

In the midst of an economic downturn, Americans are perched precariously on the edge of an unstable, debt-based monetary system. There is not enough money printed for the government to pay back its debts, which can only lead to further inflation. As a result, fortunes have been made and lost with ordinary citizens often seeing much of what they have worked a lifetime to accumulate disappearing almost overnight. Confusion is now rampant, as many bought the lie of the last decade that a new economy would bring “unbridled prosperity.”

However, the bankers and Wall Street forgot to mention that this “Greatest Economy in fifty years” is financed on borrowed money. John Maynard Keynes, the architect of our current economic system confirmed in his 1920 book, The Economic Consequences of the Peace, that our system is nothing less than a carefully laid-out plan to fleece the American people of their hard-earned money.

Dr. Bates says in his book, The New Economic Disorder, “The greatest shock of this decade is that more people are about to lose more money than in any time before in our history. The second greatest shock is the incredible amount of money just a relatively small group of people will make at the exact same time.”

The “Economic and Political Risk” conference will help attendees understand that our government is powerless to prevent an economic catastrophe. Dr. Bates will share the secrets of the banking industry and prepare citizens to be on the receiving end of an enormous transfer of wealth.

Dr. Larry Bates is the host of the daily national talk show Unravelling the New World Order, which can be heard in the Atlanta area on WGUN AM 1010 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm ET. The broadcast focuses on Economics, Politics, and Religion.

Dr. Bates is a former bank CEO who taught for the Banking Administration Institute and the state college system of Tennessee. He is also a former member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, where he was Chairman of the Committee on Banking and Commerce.

Best-selling author of the book The New Economic Disorder, Dr. Bates is the publisher and editor of the Monetary and Economic Review, a quarterly economic and financial publication that analyzes the economy and financial markets from a geopolitical perspective. He is also the publisher and editor of Unravelling the New World Order, a quarterly exposé newsletter of how government, financial and religious insiders are deciding your future. Both of these publications have subscribers in all 50 states and twelve foreign countries.

The “Economic and Political Risk” conference will include a special presentation on the Economics of Health Issues. Registration is $15 per person, or $25 per couple. Those wishing to attend can register online at www.inforadionet.com or by calling (800) 336-7000.

About the Speakers
David Rohde is a Fellow at the Joan Shorenstein Center on Press, Politics & Public Policy at the Kennedy School. He is a foreign correspondent for The New York Times. He has also reported on war in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, fraud in the 2000 Florida presidential election, and New York City's criminal court system. In 2000, Rohde received an Open Society Institute individual project fellowship to write a series of articles examining ethnic and religious conflict. In 1994 and 1995, he covered the war in Bosnia for The Christian Science Monitor and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his stories on the massacre of 7,000 Bosnian Muslims in the town of Srebrenica. Rohde is the author of the book: Endgame: The Betrayal and Fall of Srebrenica. He is a graduate of Brown University. While at the Shorenstein Center, Rohde will examine American efforts to introduce free media in Muslim countries as a way to counter the spread of Islamic fundamentalism.

Habib seeks to apply this research to evaluate possible formats for rendering justice in Afghanistan.

The Myth of China's Leverage over North Korea

The Myth of China's Leverage over North Korea
John Park, Research Fellow

In the North Korean nuclear crisis, there is a major difference between having leverage and having the ability to use it. China has the former, but not the latter. North Korea has both. If China is to stay above the deepening diplomatic quagmire, it will have to abandon its ad hoc approach to dealing with the crisis and adopt a Chinese-sponsored multilateral road map for negotiating North Korea's nuclear disarmament. The question remains whether Beijing will squander its dwindling diplomatic capital on further ad hoc efforts to bring North Korea back to an agenda-deficient table or start a new phase of road map-focused meetings.

Please join us! Coffee and tea  provided.

Everyone is welcome, but admittance is on a first come – first served basis.

From his successful career as an automobile dealer in Wisconsin, Mr. Behring entered the world of real estate development in the 1960s. Over the course of the next 35 years, his companies created numerous planned communities in Florida and California.

After purchasing the Seattle Seahawks football team in 1988, Mr. Behring established the Seattle Seahawks Charitable Foundation, which benefited numerous children’s charities.

In 1997 he pledged $20 million to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, and in 2000 he pledged an additional $80 million to rebuild the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. The Blackhawk Museum is now an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.

West Bank Brooklyn

8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

West Bank Brooklyn
A film by Ghazi Albuliwi

Presented to you by The Harvard College Palestinian Solidarity Committee, the Harvard Society of Arab Students and the Arab-American Anti Discrimination Committee of Boston.

"This sharp and funny American indie film depicting Arab-American life is both entertaining and socially relevant. In Brooklyn, even a minor fender-bender recalls international conflicts when one driver is an Arab and the other is a Jew. Two Islamic Palestinian brothers, surrounded by their circle of neighborhood friends, take different paths in balancing their ingrained prejudices and old-world traditions with the everyday realities of American life. One of the brothers takes a job as a personal aide to an elderly, wheelchair-bound Jew. One friend is propelled to delve deeper into his Islamic faith by the death of a relative in Palestine at the hands of Israeli soldiers. Tired of carrying the name Saddam, another friend (an energetic performance from writer-director Ghazi Albuliwi) decides to rename himself Tito and pass as Puerto Rican. Meanwhile, a father is arranging a marriage for a son who has a secret Anglo girlfriend. From fanciful discussions on the packaging of religion ("Jesus Christ is the Michael Jordan of religious products.") to sobering news clips of Middle Eastern conflict, the film touches on myriad realities of being an Arab-American in the 21st century. Sharp direction, tight editing and winning performances overcome the film's low-budget limitations to create a well-crafted storyline which deals with issues reflected in every other story on the evening news."

"God Hates Fags" counter protest

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Colorado activists will gather to protest Westboro Baptist church's second "God Hates Fags" demonstration in Colorado Springs on Thursday, March 22 from 3:30 until 5:00 pm.

The protest is sponsored by Students for Social Justice, and Springs Action Alliance, along with a broad, state wide coalition of groups working for civil rights for all citizens.

Criz Stoddard, of the Springs Action Alliance said, "While typically my inclination would be to just ignore them and their pitifully hateful crusade to damage their own kids emotionally, I believe that we, as a community, must stand up and say 'Not in Our Names.' "

"Not in our names will you come to our community and contribute nothing but hate mongering. Not in our names will we condone your putting a sign into a child's hands that proclaims that 9/11 was a good thing. Not in our names will we accept the notion that homosexuals deserve death."

"When I see a child holding a sign that reads, 'Fags Are Worthy Of Death', I have to wonder if these people aren't trying to induce someone to commit hate crimes. We as a community should not condone the notion that gay men and women deserve to die for their sexual orientation - no matter what our beliefs are on human sexuality", Ms. Stoddard said.

The counter demonstration will gather at City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Avenue, at 3:30 PM. Then at 4:00 at Poor Richard's, 324 N. Tejon. Then at 4:30 at the Gill Foundation, 315 E. Costilla.

Organizer Mark Lewis, of the Springs Action Alliance, and producer of a daily alternative news digest, said, "The hateful, intolerant messages of Phelps, Dobson, Falwell, and Robertson have their parallels in Muslim cultures with groups like the Taliban and Wahhabis." "Intolerance, hate, and discrimination are not the family values of Jesus, Mohammed, or Abraham."

"The statement that "fags are worthy of death" is not protected speech, in spite of the clever attempt; either under US Code, as decided in Virginia v. Black, or under the Colorado Revised Statute 31-21-106.5". "It's intimidation, harassment, and incitement; and in the name of Jesus".

"That's what gets me", Mr. Lewis said. "It's like fighting armed revolution in the Name of Ghandi." "Or killing thousands in the World Trade Center in the name of Mohammed."

"I think the batteries are low in their Bibles".

The counter protest will be peaceful and lawful, although Westboro Baptist is known for inciting violence against their detractors. The organizers encourage all in attendance to ignore the hate speech, baiting, and incitement, and observe all laws, being peaceful in words and actions.

Location:
The counter demonstration will gather at City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Avenue, at 3:30 PM. Then at 4:00 at Poor Richard's, 324 N. Tejon. Then at 4:30 at the Gill Foundation, 315 E. Costilla.

A lecture by naturalist Mike Lunsford, "Gaviota Coast: A Landscape at the Edge."

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Lunsford's presentation will explore the theme of "edges" as they relate to the natural history of the Gaviota Coast. This beautiful area lies at the edge of a continent, edge of a biogeographic region, edge of a geomorphic province, and the edge of the Southern California bight. Each of these transition zones helps create the unique richness of the Gaviota Coast and the terrestrial and marine ecosystems it embraces.

Lunsford will talk about the underlying geology and its contribution to the numerous habitats in the area. He will also describe the Gaviota Coast's role as a safe harbor for imperiled species in the Southern California coastal region.

Juvenile Justice Rally

11:00 AM - 8:00 PM

The Tampa Bay Chapter-Collective of 'Critical Resistance' in
cooperation with 'Justice4kids.org' of Florida and Tampa Bay 'Food Not Bombs' is organizing a rally to call attention to the plight of children and young people who have been made victims of the state juvenile justice system. This victimization includes: physical abuse while in detention; DEATH due to maltreatment by detention facility authorities; inappropriate incarceration due to improper due process of law; or the direct-filing of minors into the ADULT criminal justice system due to the over-broad discretion granted to State Attorney's; a culture of corruption that prevails within both the Department of Juvenile Justice, as well as within the infrastructure of private service-provider agencies that undergird this system.

This rally is scheduled to take place in the state's capital on the state mandated "Juvenile Justice Day" during a time when legislators are expected to be at their Tallahasee offices.
