When We Control the Media
Locally-controlled media and grassroots community democracy El Salvador
The communities of El Salvador are creating there own grassroots-powered community radio coupled with local participatory democracy in their struggle for human rights and justice.
Miriam Ayala and Rosa Dubón, community organizers and grassroots journalists from Chalatenango, El Salvador, tell what happens When We Control the Media:
Hear about their communities inspiring struggle to protect their lands under threat by Canadian mining companies and foreign business interests.
Learn about their experience in the construction of local participatory democracy for the creation of sustainable communities and alternatives to free trade and immigration.
Make the connections between problems we face in the United States and El Salvador, and our common solutions.
Share successful experiences of community empowerment, real free speech and democracy.
