Venezuela: Another Latin American Revolution?
Friday, 17 December 2004
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Organizer: Red Emma's
President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela says that the country is engaged in an anti-capitalist revolution. A state that has historically represented elite interests is reorienting itself to the needs of the poor and human development. Furthermore, it is trying to lead Latin America towards a
unity that would make it stronger in its resistance to empire. What's going on here? Does this have real prospects? Isn't it just a dictatorship?
Baltimore based organizer Mike McGuire was just in Venezuela for the World Encounter of Artists and Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity and will give a report on the event and an overview of what's going on in Venezuela.
Location:
Red Emma's, 800 St. Paul Street (at the corner with Madison)
Cost: Free
