DRYDEN THEATRE
On Saturday, December 4, the Dryden Theatre will present the Rochester Premiere of a moving new documentary by one of our finest working directors: Jonathan Demme's THE AGRONOMIST (Jonathan Demme, US 2003 91 min.). Devoted human
rights advocate and Oscar-winning director Demme has crafted a remarkably intimate portrait of Haitian radio journalist and political activist Jean Dominique. Shot over a period of 15 years, the film not only tells the fascinating story of the oft-exiled Dominique, but also serves as an informative history of the political conflicts and coups that have persisted for decades in Haiti, a country and subject that Demme has become very familiar with after making several documentaries there. Made just before his politically-charged remake of THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, THE AGRONOMIST - a movie about a truly
inspirational individual - is one of the director's most rousing films. Youwon't want to miss it!
