PICKET OF STARBUCKS, GLASGOW
Saturday, 20 November 2004
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Organizer: Glasgow Zapatista Solidarity and Clydeside IWW
A picket will be held at this Starbucks outlet in Glasgow, in solidarity with Starbucks workers in New York, and indigenous people in Chiapas.
12.30 - 1.30pm Picket of Starbucks, Sauchiehall Street (near Royal Concert Hall)
Informative leaflets will be distributed and delicious free Zapatista coffee will be served outside Starbucks!
Join the Clydeside Industrial Workers of the World and Glasgow Zapatista Solidarity in picketing Starbucks. There are so many reasons to do this - the immediate ones are in solidarity with Starbucks workers in New York City who are battling their bosses for the right to organise and to win better conditions, and in solidarity with the Zapatista indigenous movement in Mexico.
Starbucks is a major backer of the greenwash corporate-backed Conservation International who are prominent in efforts to evict indigenous people from the Montes Azules area in Chiapas, Mexico.
Location:
Starbucks, Sauchiehall Street (near Royal Concert Hall), Glasgow city centre
Cost: Free (including coffee!)
