Best known as leader and co-founder of the legendary rap group Public Enemy, Chuck D redefined rap music and Hip Hop culture with the release of Public Enemy's explosive 1987 debut album, Yo! Bum Rush the Show. His messages addressed weighty issues about race, rap, rage, reality and inequality with a jolting combination of intelligence and eloquence. The group became so popular and well respected it was included in the New York Times' list of The 25 Most Significant Albums of the Last Century. In 1999 Chuck D launched Rapstation.com, a multi-format "supersite" boasting a TV and radio station with original programming, a slew of Hip Hop's most prominent DJs, celebrity interviews, free MP3 downloads, social commentary and features dedicated to supporting rap artists. Most recently, Chuck D has emerged as a major proponent and the unofficial spokesperson of music on the Internet and he co-hosts the morning show Unfiltered on the newly launched network Air America Radio. Chuck D will speak on a range of current topics.
