Vanderbilt Living Wage Rally!

LET'S SHOW THE VANDERBILT ADMINISTRATION THE IMPORTANCE OF ECONOMIC JUSTICE FOR WORKERS!

In the next week and a half, Vanderbilt and Laborers
International Union of North America (LIUNA) will be
renegotiating the union contract for the lowest paid
workers at Vanderbilt...Food Service Workers,
Custodians, Groundskeepers, etc. These employees have
not had a base wage raise in at least 8 years and most
are currently making $6.50/hour. Many of these workers
live on food stamps and have to work multiple jobs
because of our incredibly low wages.

Living Income for Vanderbilt Employees (LIVE) has been
working toward economic justice for Vanderbilt workers
since the spring of 2002 and this will be the first
contract negotiation in the group's existence.

The rallies on both Wednesday, November 10 and
Saturday, November 13 will be held in support of a living wage at Vanderbilt, and will show the Vanderbilt Community’s
support for its workers in this week’s negotiations.

Students, faculty, and staff will all
speak about a living wage and the union’s current
proposal.
