7:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Organizer: Joy Towles Ezell

Public Meeting Tuesday, October 5, 2004 7:00 P.M.

Don’t BOMB the Nature Coast!
.
North Florida Citizens are invited to attend an environmental and health education meeting to learn environmental and health effects of coal-fired power plants, military missiles and bombs. The meeting concerns the proposed Eglin missile test site/bombing range and coal-fired power plant issues being proposed in Taylor County, Florida.
This public meeting will be Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00 P.M. in the meeting room of the Chaparral Restaurant, located at 2135 Highway 19 South, in Perry, Florida. The meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M. Admission to the meeting is free. If you wish to have dinner on your own before the meeting, please arrive by 6:00 P.M.
Speakers will include Bruce Gagnon, internationally-known coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space. Bruce will travel from Maine to educate people on environmental and health dangers of military bombing ranges, missiles, depleted uranium, and other toxics. He will speak on a developer’s proposal to move the Eglin Air Force Base missile test site and bombing range from it’s current location in northwest Florida to Taylor County (Perry), FL.
Dr. Ronald Saff, a noted allergy and medical doctor from Tallahassee, will speak on the Clean Air Act, the coal-fired power plant issue, and human health as it relates to these issues.
One speaker will represent Robert Rabin’s Vieques-Libre Citizens Group from Vieques, Puerto Rico, where the residents have, after 60 years of protests and struggle, finally stopped the military’s bombing of Vieques. Plans are for Robert Rabin to speak to the group via speakerphone.
Linda Young, Clean Water Network Representative, also a resident of Gulf Breeze, FL will speak of the dangers of moving Eglin’s bombing and missile range to Taylor County, and on water and air pollution.
A "Get Out a NO Vote" organizational session on the November 2 straw ballot regarding the bombing range/missile test site issue facing Taylor County and North Florida will also take place during the meeting.
The Sign-On Letter and The "Petition to the President" drive will also be discussed with petitions and sign-on letters available and instructions for participation provided.
Those attending will be presented with plans and ideas on how to defeat these harmful proposals.
Anyone interested in becoming better informed on these issues and opposing these proposals for Taylor County and North Florida is urged to attend. For more information, call 850 584 7087 or 850 843 1574.

Come to the meeting and bring a friend!
